Hello, Robin in Maryland, I'm sure others on this mail list can fill in where I'm wrong or have left out ideas. but here's a start. "Gazetteer of Windham County", by Hamilton Child, 1884 may have some data on various towns' populations in early years. Also, histories of the towns you are interested in often give populations, especially in the first few years, showing how they increased. The Child book is available at my local large public library, and is also available on film at LDS Family History Centers. This wasn't the only gazetteer Child wrote. He covered other Vermont counties. The Vermont Historical Magazine, by Abby M. Hemenway (another early author) is 5 volumes including index, also at my local large public library. It may not give much in populations. It seems more centered on early inhabitants, especially in leadership positions. Martha Parker
