    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/2AC.2ACI/1617 Message Board Post: I have been trying to find my John Carpenter and have hit a major brick wall. John Carpenter born about 1802 New York give or take a couple years. I have never been able to fine John's parents. So in doing my research and asking questions to other Carpenter researchers one theory that has come up id what if my John Carpenter's parent died and another family possible another Carpenter family took my John in. With my John Carpenter being born about 1802 he could have lost his father in the war of 1812. So I'm asking any researchers that has an adopted John Carpenter in their records to please let me know. Or an unexplained John Carpenter in their records. My John ended migrating west here is what I know. John Carpenter in Fayette County , Indiana. John had 2 children that I know of. Dennis Carpenter born July 20 1832 Fayette County, IN. and Jane Carpenter born 1837 Fayette County, IN. John then migrated to Scott County, IA. And the last place I found my John was in Jasper County, IA. John's son Dennis shows John to be from New York and John's Wife to be from Ohio. John also can be found living very close to Lyman Carpenter both Carpenter family were in the same area's at the same time. These Carpenter's appear to be related but not proven. Jim Carpenter
