The only one of his eleven children now living here is Elbridge G. aged seventy years." pg 304 - #36 Town of Townsend "Adelbert A Mason, who was born in Newfane, April 4, 1841, is a son of Russell Mason of Newfane, and grandson of Anthony Mason, who was an early resident of Brookline. He is one of a family of eight children, all of whom are living. He has resided in Townsend for twenty years. He married Phebe Ella Holland, and has three daughters." ******* Source: Historic Newfane Village, The Houses and the People, by Robert L Crowell, pg 196 "This house, the second to be constructed on the west side of Pleasant Street (now West Street), was built for Anthony Mason, a prosperous farmer. The secret of his prosperity is suggested in the bit of doggerel provided by James Ray: Anthony Mason, Farmer 'Squire Mason, A. will ready pay To all he does employ; But they must work as cheap as dirt, For 'tis his earthy joy. The property.... was labeled "A. Mason" on the map of 1856 and "Mrs Mason" on the map of 1869. In 1874 Elbridge Mason paid a tax of $9.72 on real estate in the village. Then, sometime before 1889, Mrs Alvina A.C. Ware bought the place for a parsonage." Hope this helps.
