She was born at Fowler, NY in 1863 and married William Ball. Her grandfather, Caleb Rider, was born in 1789 and was living in New York state as early as the 1820 census. I don't know if he originally came from Vermont, but he might have.

My great-grandmother was Eleanor, also called "Ellen" Rider, born in New York in 1832. At age 17 she married Luther Hancock. In 1850 they were living in Fowler, New York, next to Caleb and Ruth Rider. I am quite sure they were her parents. They had 3 children; Emmett, Lillie (my grandmother) and Nellie. I would really like to know who Caleb and Ruth were born and who their parents were.
I have recently extracted names and events from the Putney Church Record books (which have been microfilmed through the efforts of the Genealogical Society of Vermont). I have typed and indexed these extracts, and am offering them in a small booklet of 42 pages and 13 pages of index. If you are interested in purchasing a copy from me, please contact me at jnichols@sover.net Thanks! Joann Nichols
Sorry--turns out it's called the Stark cemetery in the History of Guilford. Helga
Hi Helga, There is not a Williams-Collins Cemetery in Guilford, or any other town in Windham County, Vermont. There is a Maplehurst- Elmhurst Cemetery. It is on East side of VT U.S. 5 several miles south of Guilford. It was formerly two seperate cemeteries. Elmurst was east of Maplehurst and last used in 1904.The Maplehurst side is still used. 1st burial was 1809. THANKS to D.F. for this lookup. Happy searching, Jan

While trying to find the first name of the Williams who married Roseanne Tubbs, I found a reference saying she was buried in the Williams-Collins cemetery in Guilford VT. The History of Guilford says she was buried in the Maplehurst cemetery, along with her other Tubbs relatives, and I find no other Williamses or Collinses there. Does any one know about such a cemetery? Or know which Williams married Roseanne Tubbs? Israel Williams of Guilford married Mary Collins and had several children, one of whom, Chester, married Lucy Collins who was a daughter of Philip Collins, an original land owner in Guilford, but I find no other reference to Philip and do not know who the Mary Collins who married Israel Williams is either. There was a John Collins in Guilford in the 1790 census but there is no further reference to him either. Several of the children of Israel Williams and Mary Collins seem to have moved to Derby, Orleans, VT. Is that where Israel and Lucy are buried?? Lots of questions and would appreciate any information on these families. Helga Andrews
