    3. Hi Bud, You might be interested in the "Families of the Pioneer Valley" CD which contains: "Springfield Families" by Thomas B. Warren. "Pynchon's Court Records 1638-1696". "Pynchon's Births, Marriages and Deaths 1638-1696". all of which were compiled from the record books he and his son kept for a number of years. I spoke to one of the people from Regional http://www.RegionalPublications.com and he informed me that the next CD's to be released will be Cemetery records for a lot of Mass & Conn towns. Also the "Dewey" series which is very similar to "Springfield Families" but from the Westfield Mass and surrounding towns. About 2000 pages of data and he said its only available in the Westfield Library. That one should be real good for us as lots of our people were from that area. Check out their site and let me know what you think. Lu

Posted on: USGenWeb Windham County, Vt Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Vt/Windham/11498 Surname: Hooker, Church, Webster ------------------------- Looking for the origins of FANNIE CHURCH (b. abt 1809) in Windham County. Fannie married Nathaniel EGGLESTON HOOKER who was b. in Hartford CT. After their first three children were born, they migrated to Western Ohio. The third child was born in "Bennington, New York," which I have alternately taken to mean the tiny town near the eastern edge of Lake Erie in NY, and what is now Bennington VT, which appears at one time to have been part of New York, and not Vermont. It appears that many people from Hartford settled in Windham County, and I see many familiar names among the names of Windham. Would appreciate any clues to the CHURCH, HOOKER, WEBSTER and other formerly Hartford families -- especially those of physicians and ministers.

Susan Cady was born in Windsor, VT (according to the 1850 census). If you don't find the marriage in Rockingham, you might want to try the bride's hometown, too (I get the census data from genealogy.com which is a subscription service) I would look it up on ancestry.com (mostly subscription service also) to see if there is a listing there, but ancestry.com is not working properly right now. 3. Posted on: USGenWeb Windham County, Vt Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Vt/Windham/11494 Surname: BENNETT, BENNET ------------------------- Regarding Josiah Bennett and Windham County VT, I have no direct info. However, I'm descended from the Willem Adriaense Bennet of Holland who settled in what's now Brooklyn(Kings Cty) NY in the 1620s'. Born c. 1605, he married Marytje Badye(Baddie) c. 1637 (her second marriage), and died betw. 3/89/1644&9/9/1644. Had four children: Adriense W, Willem W. Christian, and Maritje. >From that point the family got really busy; Adriense alone had 11 children (1660's-1680's); he and the others and their immediate offspring generated a lot of Bennets in the 17th & 18th cent. Lots of this available at Ancestry.com. Some spread out quite a bit during the following years, and wouldn't be surprised to find 'em in southern VT in the 1790's; the second 'T' was added somewhere in that time, so check both spellings. Hope this helps; regards...

    2. I checked quickly through the ca. 1870 history of Westminster and found only the following about the Phippens. There is only one mention of the Crowells, which is as one of the early families in what became the West Parish. Regards, Charles J. Samuel, jr., Jonathan Atwater, and Joseph were probably his sons. Jonathan Atwater PHIPPEN died 8 July, 1827. He married Mary, daughter of Asa AVERILL; 7 children: 1. 3. Posted on: USGenWeb Windham County, Vt Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Vt/Windham/11491 Surname: Crowell, Phippen ------------------------- Lucius Crowell (b. 1789) and Polly Phippen (b. 1791) married at Herkimer, Herkimer Co. NY on 2 September 1810. Lucius Crowell's father's name Elias (or Eliae) was on the marriage record. Polly Phippen's father's name Joseph, was also on the marriage record. (Polly Phippen was born in Westminster, Windham Co VT) On the marriage record, Polly and Lucius place of residence was listed as Fairfield, Herkimer Co. Witnesses were Isaac C. Crowell and Conrad Hartman. On the 1810 census of Herkimer, NY, Joseph Phippen is listed, and a few doors down is Christopher Crowell. How might Christopher Crowell be connected? Wasn't he from Westminster also? Polly's older sister Silence Phippen married a Sylvanus Crowell at Westminster, Vermont on 2 March 1802. What was the connection between Sylvanus and Lucius other than that they married sisters? (Lucius and Polly Crowell's 2nd son's name was Sylvanus) Could anyone shed any light on these families for me? I would appreciate it tremendously if someone would help me on this.
