Searching for John B. Wheeler and Hannah Thurston who lived in Brattleboro, first part of the 19th Century. Is there any record of them? They were the parents of Chief Justice of Texas, Royall Tyler Wheeler and they emigrated to Ohio around 1817 it is believed.
While researching for a William STEVENS from Chester, VT. I came across several ref. to a William Stevens living in Andover, a small town near Chester. Because I could find little info. on a William in Chester I began looking at the William in Andover. I recieved the following info. from a local Chester resident who was kind enough to do some searching for me. He says, "There was a William Stevens who lived in Andover in the 1700's & early 1800's. It seems to be a different line from from the family in Chester. This line coming from Henry who settled in Boston in 1635. William was born in Townsend, MA, 22 Jan.1753, son of William Stevens & Sybil Farnsworth. His birth does not seem to have been recorded in the Townsend vital records. He settled in Jaffrey, NH & moved to Andover, VT. & again back to Jaffrey, NH where he died 27 Sept. 1828. He was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives, in 1806. He also had a son William who was born in Townsend,MA, 28 Jan. 1783 (Hen! ry C. Hallowell, Vital Records of Townsend, MA., to 1850 (Boston, 1992), 248. He also had a dau. Abigail born in Andover, VT., 16 Jan 1808." Any clues there? From another source I show a Abibail Stevens m. to Sanford GRANGER, 26 Feb. 1826, Chester, VT. Also a Jereh. (one of the names you listed) as m. to Betsey FISHER, 6 Sept. 1822, Chester, VT. If you should come across a PETER STEVENS, born abt. 1808 from Chester area, appreciate you letting me know. Hope some of this info. helps. Pete
Does anyone on list have state or federal censuses for Windham County late 1700's and early 1800's? Seeking anything on Alonzo RICE bn abt 1818 and his mother, former Polly TUBBS. Possibility I have wrong person for 1818 date and it might be Polly's birth year. Alonzo was raised on farm and when father (name unknown) died, farm was left to eldest son. Alonzo went westward ending up married to Barbara Loegler of Cheektawaga, N.Y. with them farming across from Buffalo in Ontario province of Canada in 1870's. At that time farmland there was less expensive than NY. Children were born between 1869 and 1876. Any information deeply appreciated... Barry Faulkner [email protected]
I'm sorry I don't have that information. I'm just getting started on the Whipples. I would appreciate any information about Daniel and Deborah Whipple's children. Thanks.

I am interested in hearing from anyone researching the Sherman family of East Dover, Vt. NATHAN SHERMAN was the first Sherman in my line to live in the Dover area. He was probably born in Shrewsbury, Mass. on Dec. 6, 1767 and died in Dover in 1839. He was married to MARY "POLLY" SHERMAN on Aug. 15, 1780 in Grafton, Mass. I know nothing of her family. The remainder of my Sherman ancestors who lived in East Dover are as follows: LUTHER SHERMAN, b. 1792; m. ABIGAIL BLASHFIELD sometime before 1819; d. July 11, 1855 EDWIN FISKE SHERMAN, b. 1821; m. (1.) MARY HOWE PHILLIPS before 1848 (2.) Sophia Russell Merrifield before 1850; d. May 1, 1872 REV. CYRUS STEWART SHERMAN (Baptist), b. Jan. 17, 1848; m. MARION LUCY GOULD on Sept. 4, 1872; d. Nov. 18, 1922 WALTER CYRUS SHERMAN, b. Sept. 25, 1873 in Guilford, Vt. who left Windham Co. for Rhode Island
We are researching our William Stevens b: 1755 approx., and we have reason to believe that he may have been living in and or around Andover and/or Weston Vt. His wife was an "Anna" but we have no maiden name. Does the first names of Weston (Born 1777 in Vermont), Allen, Jeremiah, Baker, Kenyon, Nathan, Webster (B:1799 Vermont) Stevens/Stephens ring any bells. My direct line lived in Ontario/Monroe Cty's NY and other Stevens' went to Ontario Canada earlier around l810. My line, Allen R. Stevens (b: 1785) left NY during the mid l830's for Canada and then onto Michigan with his wife Sarah and their children. Rob and Michelle Burke
In St.Marys Cem Fair Haven Vermont is buried Rev. Patrick Long born in Brattleboro. Died circa 1935. Another Long family in Brattleboro? Cousins? Regards,Peter in Fair Haven (no relation)
I am quite proud to be directly related to my great-grandfather many years removed, Levi Redfield, who fought in the American Revolution to establish a nation under God, and who composed religious music! Undoubtedly he would turn over in his grave to find his link with the Bush "dynasty of Skull and Bones darkness" and the subsequent godlessness of his distant Bush relative.Bush is NO kin to me!
Sue-- my machine crashed and I've lost your address. Jan
