    3. I am searching for a divorce record from about 1800. Simon FISHER of Newfane, Windham Co., VT married Nancy WOOD/WOODS about 1799. (I suppose her real name could have been Anne and she was called Nancy.) Simon married again just 4 years later on December 6, 1804 to Mary MORSE, daughter of John MORSE. After the second wife's death, Simon married a third time on November 28, 1813 to Mary CROSBY, daughter of Aaron CROSBY. All of this was in Windham County (probably Newfane). My records indicate that the first wife, Nancy, did not die until 1847, so there must have been a divorce between 1799-1804. Do any of you have access to such divorce records? If not, can you tell me where might I find them? Thanks for the help. Betty Louisiana

    2. I don't know if this is of any use, but I note that Mary Weatherhead's sister Rhoda married Isaac Barber and had a son Isaac Barber Jr who married a Betsy Stearns, bc 1794 in Guilford VT. The IGI mentions a Daniel Stearns and Elizabeth Hall who had daughters Lucinda and Betsy; some of their children were born in Killingly Windham CT, from whence many Guilford families came. Others of their children were said to be born in Berkshire Co MA. (Also my Weatherhead book says that Joel married Lucy Stearns or Stevens--and that's all it says.) Good luck, Helga

I've never used it so I can't recommend it, but it might be something you would want to check out. Betty P.S. If you come across something that will make me look YOUNGER, let me know. I seem to have mastered the 'looking older' bit quite well all by myself.

Hello Harley, There were Fuller folk there earlier... see the tagline/link at the bottom of your message below... click on "Whittingham" http://www.rootsweb.com/~vtwindha/VT_Gazetteer-Whitingham.htm (tip: use your browser's "Edit, Find on this page" find utility, enter Fuller see all on the page) (listed below} WHITINGHAM SCENERY. In the northerly part of the town there is a pond, in early times called Beaver dam, but of late, Fuller pond. It formerly covered 50 acres, and is so situated as to have an outlet at each end, both of which reach the Deerfield, on near the north part of Whitingham and the other near Shelburne Falls, but nearly 30 miles apart. This body of water has decreased in size so that in a dry season less than five acres are covered with water. Traces of the old dam, probably built centuries ago, are still viable, and under the surface may be found parts of trees of considerable size bearing tooth marks of the beaver. FIRST THINGS. The grand list of 1781 shows who paid the taxes at that time and indicates to some extent the population of the town.
