Does anyone have the mailing address for All Souls Unitarian Church in Brattleboro? I got an e-mail address for them from two sources, but it doesn't work. I'm a Unitarian, but didn't know until after my grandfather died that he was one. He grew up in Brattleboro and I want to see if the church has any records. Robin in Maryland

Hi again, I'm also looking for info on Elijah SHUMWAY but particularly his wife Zilpha GILBERT's Ancestry. They were the parents of Lewis SHUMWAY mentioned in my (just) last query. Upon his return from the the American Revolution, Elijah and family moved to Leverett, Massachusetts and then to Jamaica, Vermont where he was a Baptist minister and lived the rest of his days there until he met his sweet reward in 1819 at the age of 65. Having been a minister, it's quite possible that he joined his son Lewis in matrimony to Lucy SMITH. There may be some VERY old church records mouldering around back there. (I'm writing from out in Washington State.) Again it's the female I'm looking for. Zilpha GILBERT should be at least a little easier to trace than Lucy SMITH! Help, anyone. Dave B
Hi, My info shows a pair of my 3G Grandparents as Lewis SHUMWAY and Lucy SMITH. They had 12 kids in a place (prob'ly a township) called Jamaica between 1797 and 1822. Lucy died in 1834. Lewis then married Sally Mason and they had a couple more kids. I don't know if old Lewis was much of a farmer but he seems to have mastered propagation. Anyway, I have Lewis SHUMWAY traced back very well. It's lucy SMITH's ancestry I've blanked on. Please help if you have info or maybe point me in the right direction. . . . old records etc. Thanks, Dave (David Shumway Bardue)

I apologize if I posted something like this earlier. I'm on so many lists that I need to keep better records. I would be willing to copy the Jacobs family info except that I have scribbled all over it and I fear it's unreadable by now. The land records are scattered throughout and you would probably do better to find a copy of the book to trace them. My interest stems from their marrying into my Gaines family and my attempt to sort out some of my families in Guilford. I'd be glad to answer any specific question if I can. Helga
