    2. You all are a very friendly list. Thanks so much for everybody who has offered advice. Jan Jordan, do you mind looking in your book and see if Blanchard Cem is listed in Guilford or Brattleboro? Helga thinks it may be also known as "Old North." If nobody can find anything about Blanchard, I'll just go to Old North and hope the Weatherheads are there. Hey Ray, thanks for that link. I can use it for other places than Vermont. We're looking forward to exploring in Windham Karen Worley

    3. Hi Karen, There is not a Blanchard Cemetery listed in Readsboro, Bennington County, VT in the "Burial Grounds of VT" ©1991 book. The 4 cemeteries listed are: Heartwellville, North Hill-Amidon, Readsboro Village, and South Readsboro. Could Blanchard Cemetery be an early name for one of these? Happy searching, Jan Jordan <<Karen KRWorley@aol.com>>

    3. Karen: The Browns buried in Whitneyville Cem. together with Elizabeth wife of Isaac are: Silvale wife of John May 15, 1832 age 63 Losine wife of Benjamin Crosier Jan 5 1832 age 21 Chandler Oct 8, 1845 age 33 Elizabeth A July 9, 1847 age 31 Aurilla dau of John age 1 Because Elizabeth was 75 in 1813, when she may have been a widow living with other family members. It is possible that Isaac is buried there also but does not have a marker. Sadly, there are many recorded deaths in Halifax for which there are no corresponding gravestone markers. This is true of people in all stations of life. For example, a man who was town clerk for six years who died in 1806 does not have a gravestone. Nor does his wife who died in 1826. There are rough stones approximately in the head and foot positions by their son's grave. He died in 1811 and has a nicely carved stone. The rough stones may be indications of the places of burial or even indications that there once were stones that fell over or disintegrated. If you can take time to check the land records at the Halifax town clerk's office (open M. T. & F. 9 to 4 and S. till noon) there may be clues. You could, at least learn if Isaac owned property in town. Also if you are in Halifax on October 9, The Historical Society is sponsoring a fund-raising dinner at the Community Hall. It will be an excellent dinner! I hope this information helps.

    3. Go to www.epodunk.com and search for Guilford, Vermont. Scroll down to Cemeteries on the Guilford page and click that link. On the next page click the link for the cemetery you want. The next screen will have links for a road map and a topographic map centered on the cemetery you selected. 1. Re: [VTWINDHA] Library in Windham County?
    2. Hello cousin Helga. I have gotten the info from both books you mentioned. I think between them and the microfilm of the state of VT vital records index cards, I have the burial places of Elizabeth Brown (Whitneyville Cem in Halifax) and I hope Isaac Sr is with her, Isaac Jr and Mary Weatherhead are in Christ Church Cem in Guilford, Jeremiah and Rachel Weatherhead are in Blanchard Cem and the Franklins are in Franklin Cem. And the locations of all those places I found on line. So we can look at leaves while on the cemetery tour. What I'm trying to work on are the other children of Isaac Sr Brown and Isaac Jr Brown, since nobody wrote a book about them, and my mysterious Henry Johnson. I'm hoping that a good library will have contributed family information from other people that I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. I'm totally and completely stuck on the origin of Isaac Brown. But I found Elizabeth Brown's will last week and it listed all her children, including married last names of the daughters and in a few cases the name of the daughter's husband. Since the children were born before the family came to Windham Co, I'm hoping that by researching the husbands of the girls and where they came from I'll find a clue as to where Isaac and Elizabeth came from. Thanks to you and Joann both for the info about the library. Brattleboro is perfect because we're staying there at the KOA. Your cousin Karen Worley In a message dated 9/20/2004 2:29:57 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Hanjm@aol.com writes: I was also going to recommend the Brattleboro Library, which does have some good information. But I also have a small privately printed book called "The Family of the First Weatherheads to Settle in Guilford, Vermont" by Almira E. Weatherhead. I also go back to Jeremiah who married Rachel Franklin, though I then come down through Jeremiah Jr. who married Abigail Wilder. I do have some info on the Franklins, which is also in "Official History of Guilford." You can probably find that book either in Brattleboro or in Guilford--you can also find the gravesites in Guilford; the Franklin cemetery is a charming small cemetery, well preserved, and Jeremiah and Rachel Weatherhead are in the Blanchard cemetery; there are good guides to all the cemeteries in Guilford. I'm unfortunately off tomorrow for a week, but if you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask afterwards.

    2. Well I'd say we're related, but mine is several generations older. He was born in 1714. He married a much younger woman and had sons born in the 1760s and 1770s, one of whom was probably the father of the one you're talking about. I haven't followed the sons because I'm descended from one of the daughters. Thanks for answering. 1. Library in Windham County?
    2. I live in NC, but we're going leaf-peeping in Vermont in a couple of weeks and I'd like to stop in Windham County to research my ancestors there. Can anybody tell me what's the best library in the county for genealogy? Or are there libraries in several towns? The families I'm researching lived in Guilford, Dover, Wardsboro and Halifax, that I know of. While I'm posting, I guess I should look for cousins. Is there anyone on the list researching Isaac Brown, Jeremiah Weatherhead or Philip Franklin who all appeared in Guilford about the time of the Revolutionary War? Also, my ggg-grandfather John Brown, son of Isaac, Jr, was born in Dover, VT in 1797 and moved to Northfield, Mass. in the 1820s. His wife was named Olive Johnson, and I don't know if he met and/or married her in Windham Co or after he moved to Massachusetts. The Northfield death register says her father's name was Henry Johnson, but I can't find Henry Johnson anywhere. If anyone has heard of this family, please let me know. Thanks Karen Worley Wilkesboro, NC
