    1. [VTWASHIN] Re: TUCKER, Samuel & Alma (nee RICE)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1AC.2ACI/24.5 Message Board Post: I show William Rice Tucker, son of Samuel and Alma [Rice] Tucker, b. in Claremont, NH, 10Nov1812, d. in Northfiield, Vt 21Nov1880. He married Theoda Parks Howe of Northfield, [formerly of Norwich and Hanover, NH] in Mar1836. She died 9 yrs later 29Apr45 leaving 2 children: Malverd Clarence, b. 16Dec37 [error in your list perhaps Sam and Alma raised him after the death of his mother?] and Ione Sophia, b. 12Nov42. Family letters indicate Malvard married a cousin ["Ria" for Maria Knight] on the Howe side and was working for the Treasury Dept. [2nd Auditor's Office] in 1871 in Wash.DC. They had "baby Onie". At this time your Aunt Delia went to Denver for her health; she was 39, and if it didn't work out, she would return to ?Paris, Ill.? [maybe Aunt Nett Alden's] to die. By '73 she was doing well in Denver and came to Paris for a visit but didn't like it and went back. We have actual letters and can mail copies. At this time an "Uncle Geo. and family" was living in DC wi! th them and working as a govt. agent into the south and back, but "disliking Grant". This was a mystery to us but was probably your Geo Tucker and Aunt Sophrona. After the death of Aunt Theoda in '45, Wm. Rice Tucker married by our records, Armena Simons, in '47. As you see, spellings vary :-) Now, I'm guessing here, there was a cousin Frank Tucker in Berkeley, Calif. with a sister Onie. Frank must have been a younger brother to Onie, and was still involved with the Howes in Berkeley real estate. This would have been an association between our families that began in Northfield, continued in Wash. DC, perhaps other places, and then Calif. Can you add to the story?
