In Barre, October 18, Mr. A. S. CURRIER, formerly of Berlin, aged 51 years. In East Braintree, October 19, Mrs. Sally LYON, aged 88 years, 3 months and 10 days. In Chelsea, October 17, Mr. Calvin PORTER, formerly a resident of Cabot, aged 83 years. His remains were taken to Cabot for interment. In Norwich, Conn., October 16, at the residence of his father, Hon. James A. HOVEY, Mr. A. C. HOVEY, of New York, aged 28 years. In Burlington, after a short illness, of scarlet fever George R., only child of E. S. and M. E. FULLAM, aged 6 years, 6 months and 13 days. In Hardwick, September 30, Mr. John L. POPE, aged 69 years. Also, October 3, Mrs. Eliza PAGE, wife of John L. POPE, aged 65 years. Mr. and Mrs. POPE were each worthy members of the Congregational church. In Barre, October 19, L. C. WHEELOCK, Esq., a member of the Washington County Bar, aged 51 years and 9 months. Esquire WHEELOCK was the only son of Welcome WHEELOCK, late of Calais, where the writer became acquainted with him, at his father's house, when he was a young lad, thirty-six years ago. He was then an industrious and studious boy, and as he grew to manhood, he continued to school himself, and when of lawful age he commenced school-teaching, in which he was very successful. He was introduced into Barre village soon after he was twenty-one, to teach the village school, and has made his home here ever since. He read law, and was admitted to the Washington County Bar at the spring term in 1852. In a very short time he was able, by his own industry and economy, to purchase the property of the late Esquire KINSMAN, and by perseverance and faithfulness in his profession, he has accumulated a large property and been successful in the world. In this success he had the aid of his amiable companion, who was a help-meet indeed, and who is now quite sick. He leaves two children (a son and daughter) to mourn his loss with his bereaved companion. Mr. WHEELOCK and Miss Annette GOLDSBURY (his widow) were married May 4th, 1857. May the Lord restore her to health again, for the beloved children's sake, for the sake of a dear, venerable mother, and brothers, and friends, and for the blessing of the community. Mr. WHEELOCK was a man of remarkable temperate habits, great industry and perseverance, and had achieved an honorable position in society, and at the bar. His ability consisted more in preparing his cases thoroughly, and in successful collecting, then in making great arguments. Fifteen members of the bar, mostly from Montpelier were in attendance at the funeral services, Tuesday, from the place of his residence. The services were very brief, because of the sickness and suffering of the widow. L. WARREN. LEGAL NOTICES. WILLIAM DALEY'S ESTATE. - The subscribers, having been appointed by the Honorable Probate Court for the District of Washington, commissioners to receive, examine and adjust all claims and demands of all persons against the estate of William DALEY, late of Duxbury, in said district, deceased, represented insolvent, and the term of six months from the 26th day of Sept., A. D. 1873, being allowed by said court to the creditors of said deceased, to exhibit and prove their respective claims before us: Give notice that we will attend to the duties of our appointment at the dwelling-house of Melzer WILSON, in Duxbury, in said District, on the third Wednesdays of November and February next, at ten o'clock, in the forenoon, on each of said days. D. 1873. 97-99 OLIVER DEWEY'S ESTATE. - The subscribers, having been appointed by the Honorable Probate Court for the District of Washington, commissioners to receive, examine and adjust all claims and demands of all persons against the estate of Oliver DEWEY, late of Berlin, in said district, deceased, represented insolvent, and the term of six months from the 4th day of September, 1873, being allowed by said court to the creditors of said deceased, to exhibit and prove their respective claims before us: Give notice that we will attend to the duties of our appointment at the dwelling-house of J. On application of Horace FALES, administrator, with the will annexed of the estate of John SPALDING, late of Montpelier, in said District, deceased, it is ordered and decreed, that all persons having had claims allowed against said estate, exhibit the same to said administrator for settlement, on or before the first day of January next, at which time payment thereof will be made: And, it is further ordered, that notice of the same be given to all creditors of said estate, by publishing this decree three weeks successively in the Vermont Watchman and State Journal, printed at Montpelier, before said time appointed. A. CHASE, Register. STATE OF VERMONT, WASHINGTON DISTRICT, SS. In Probate Court held at Montpelier, within and for said District on the 6th day of October, A. D. 1873: Charles E. PERRIN and Sylvanus F. NYE, executors of the last Will and Testament of Edward W. PERRIN, late of Berlin, in said District, deceased, make application to said Court with the consent and approbation in writing of the devisees and legatees of said deceased, for license to sell all of the real estate of said deceased, representing that the sale of a part thereof is necessary for the payment of the debts of the said deceased, and that such part cannot be sold without injury to those interested in the remainder, and that the sale of the whole farm together, includes the Nova Scotia pasture and twenty-eight acres for the sale of which the license has already been granted will increase the proceeds of the sale, and be beneficial to the devisees and legatees of said deceased, and those interested in his estate. Whereupon, it is ordered by said court, that said application be referred to a session thereof, to be held at the Probate Office, in said Montpelier, on the 28th day of October, A. D. 1873, for hearing and decision thereon; And it is further ordered, that all persons be notified thereof, by publication of notice of said application and order thereon, three weeks successively in the Vermont Watchman and State Journal printed at Montpelier, before said time of hearing, that they may appear at said time and place, and, if they see cause, object thereto. 95-97 By the Court,-Attest, N.
