(COLBY?)(WENTWORTH) HILL puzzle - namely, who are her parents? Was her father Nathaniel WENTWORTH or was it J. COLBY? Facts that I have about Mary (COLBY?) (WENTWORTH) HILL are: Born: 18 Apr 1827, Montpelier?, VT Sources: (1) Age 38y-9m-22d at 9 Feb 1866 death per memorial written by daughter Betsy; (2) Maiden name WENTWORTH from daughter Carrie’s birth certificate and other records and from burial records; (3) Birth location Montpelier per Carrie’s birth certificate; (4) Nathaniel Wentworth’s 5 Apr 1859 will names Eri HILL (Mary’s husband) as the executor and makes bequests only to Eri, Mary and their children. Died: 9 Feb 1866, Childbed, Worcester, VT. In the death record from the town of Worcester the far right column headed "Parents" has the entry J. COLBY. Buried: North Branch Cemetery, Middlesex, Washington, VT Married: Eri HILL, of Middlesex, VT, abt 1845. I've suspected for some time that Mary may have been adopted or may have taken the name of WENTWORTH when maybe living with Nathaniel & Betsy WENTWORTH. Does anyone have any information on a J. COLBY who might have been living in the Montpelier area in 1827 who might have had my Mary E.??? Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Bob
