There were two Stephen Clark's listed in the 1860 Census for Vermont: Stephen Clark, Woodbury, Washington County, Pg. 159, and Stephen Clark, Rutland, Rutland County, Pg. 313. I guessed that the one in Washington County might be who you were looking for (??), since you posted to the Washington County Board. 1860 Census - Woodbury, Washington County, VT, Pg. 159 Clark, Stephen, age 33, male, day laborer, b. I haven't ever been there. I've done all my research with microfilm at the LDS Family History Center and through correspondence. The Lemuel Lyon (bro. of Arunah) is still owned by a descendant.

I can’t add anything to what you have on Arunah (in fact you have more than I do), but I do have the parents and Rumrill ancestry of Ruth Rumrill, and a marriage of Ruth Lyon (Arunah and Ruth’s daughter) to a William Brace. If this is of interest, let me know. I’d also like to know your sources and any more details on career of Arunah Lyon Jr. (I knew an Arunah Lyon was a ininerate Methodist Episcopal preacher, but I had deduced it was the father), and of the wife and children of son Persons. It looks like you found some of the data at Waterbury. Would you think a trip there would be useful or do you feel you have found out pretty much all there is?

Apparently the first of the two numerals suffers a degradation on the actual record. Note #2: ANN "unknown" is reported to have remarried to a R. H. PITKIN following the death of husband Carlton Eastman in 1859. Note #3: It was not made evident to me, as to how or if, the NORMAN EASTMAN d. 1847age 24, in the Walker Graveyard at Hartland VT, was connected to the Carlton and Cyrena, who are also buried there Note #4: The Walker Graveyard data from Hartland VT, was kindly provided by "Bev Lasure". ========================================== HOLLAND, ORLEANS COUNTY, VERMONT RECORDS CARLTON EASTMAN place of birth reported as Boscawen, NH - d. 01 Jan 1871, age at death 79 years, 9 months, 18 days + (1st) "believed" to have been LYDIA HEATH (not proven yet) m. abt 1810 in NH, b.& d. unk ++(2nd) "reported" as having been SERENA WALKER b. abt 1800, m. abt 1825, d. unk. Note #3: However, it is believed that the Carlton Eastman who died 01 Jan 1871 in Holland VT, had migrated from Hartland VT in 1847, coincident with the Charles Eastman and Lucy Ann Weeden family, as noted on this webpage: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/OrleansHolland.html , which says "Charles Eastman came to this town, from Hartland, Vt., in 1847, locating where his son, Eugene W., now resides, and died here October 8, 1882. His wife, Lucy A., daughter of Thomas Wheeden, of Hartland, survives him". ......Sub Note to #3: Eugene William Eastman subsequently d. 07 Nov 1930 and is buried in Brownsville, Windsor County, VT. Regarding marriage records--my suggestion would be to contact the Town Clerk at Waterbury, VT. Here is the information for the Waterbury Vital Records Office ( Washington Co.): Waterbury Town Clerk 51 South Main Street Waterbury, VT 05676 Phone (802) 244-8447 Hours: M-F 8-4:30 You might try calling and seeing what the cost would be for a copy of the marriage record(s). The clerk should be able to give you instructions on how to request the records and if they would have them. If you have both the first and last names of the individuals you are looking for, and at least an estimated time period (year range), this would be a big help. There may be selected marriage records online, but you would have to search for them. I use google.com for my searches. I have not found too much using this. You could try searching online family trees that people have put online at websites or at World Family Tree (Ancestry.com) or World Connect (Rootsweb.com). Good luck, M.K. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of spam? Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
