Think nothing of it as I thought it may have had something to do with some postings I did to help others. I have found information before on familylines that have nothing to do with mine and posted this information in order to help others with their searches. I thought that perhaps this was from one of them. Good luck in your search. I hope you find what you are looking for. God Bless, Angie

    2. Kerrin McCadden
    3. Jed, All of the records from 1760-1870 are on the same microfilm reels at the state public records research room, and then they are alphabetized by last name within that span, so all of the records for that family name between those years are all next to each other in the reels--meaning that it shouldn't be too hard for them to read the records for it. They DO, however, want you to make a guess at a year range to make it easier for them to pinpoint the correct record. The next year range is 1871-1908. It costs $9.50 per record. Their address is: General Service Center Reference and Research US Route 2 Middlesex Drawer 33 Montpelier, VT 05633-7601 I go to the records center periodically with my students. We are still backlogged with lookup requests, but next time we go, I could hunt for that record for you (and not only would it be free, but we could send along any other seemingly related records as well). Let me know if you'd like me to do that for you, or if you'd rather write to them and order it. Keep in mind that mandatory reporting of vital events in Vermont was not instituted until 1864, so if your event was before this date, you may not find record of it at all. Best, Kerrin >>> <jedh@jedh.com> 05/19/03 10:46AM >>> This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I'm trying to find out how I might get ahold of a copy of a marriage record from 1860 in Washington County? I can only GUESS at the town/village as being Northfield (based solely on some later family residing there). The record mentioned in a recent finding indicates not only that John Donnelly and Sarah Gallagher married in 1860, in Washington County, but the same contributor seems to have tied that in with a very specific date and place of birth/baptism for John (something that has eluded me for over 25 years of research). Is there a means by which I can "order" this record from Washington County? Or, would the year 1860 only be available through the State Archives? Without even a month or more specific date, and no village/town, I am just praying there is a way I could order the right document copy. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated. 3. >>> Lola Haffcke <lola@xtn.net> 05/14/03 07:11PM >>> Hello Kerrin and students Thank you so much for the information you sent me!!! You have done a wonderful job!!!! The information will fill in a lot of blanks in my family tree. Is there any way that I can repay your kindness? Do I need to reimburse you for anything ? No reimbursement necessary. It's a learning experience--that's payment enough. If, however, you have any genealogical resources at hand for any other states, a student or two might profit from asking for a couple of lookups from you. We are mostly researching family in New England, but have some Pennsylvania and other southern states mixed in. Did the student find anything about where the Hatches were buried? If so I would like that information also. The only burial place I found was for the two Estes Hatch fellows: The Old Dillon Farm in Horn of the Moon (a little mini hamlet within the town of East Montpelier). In old times, of course, people were buried in family cemeteries on the family farm. This would be one such cemetery. You might find that other later Hatchs were buried there as well, just not listed on the death certs (there usually isn't a listing of where buried on most certs I've seen--but the earlier ones tend to mention it). Thank you again for your time and help. Lola Haffcke
