    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1AC.2ACI/24.5 Message Board Post: I show William Rice Tucker, son of Samuel and Alma [Rice] Tucker, b. in Claremont, NH, 10Nov1812, d. in Northfiield, Vt 21Nov1880. He married Theoda Parks Howe of Northfield, [formerly of Norwich and Hanover, NH] in Mar1836. She died 9 yrs later 29Apr45 leaving 2 children: Malverd Clarence, b. 16Dec37 [error in your list perhaps Sam and Alma raised him after the death of his mother?] and Ione Sophia, b. 12Nov42. Family letters indicate Malvard married a cousin ["Ria" for Maria Knight] on the Howe side and was working for the Treasury Dept. [2nd Auditor's Office] in 1871 in Wash.DC. They had "baby Onie". At this time your Aunt Delia went to Denver for her health; she was 39, and if it didn't work out, she would return to ?Paris, Ill.? [maybe Aunt Nett Alden's] to die. By '73 she was doing well in Denver and came to Paris for a visit but didn't like it and went back. We have actual letters and can mail copies. At this time an "Uncle Geo. and family" was living in DC wi! th them and working as a govt. agent into the south and back, but "disliking Grant". This was a mystery to us but was probably your Geo Tucker and Aunt Sophrona. After the death of Aunt Theoda in '45, Wm. Rice Tucker married by our records, Armena Simons, in '47. As you see, spellings vary :-) Now, I'm guessing here, there was a cousin Frank Tucker in Berkeley, Calif. with a sister Onie. Frank must have been a younger brother to Onie, and was still involved with the Howes in Berkeley real estate. This would have been an association between our families that began in Northfield, continued in Wash. DC, perhaps other places, and then Calif. Can you add to the story?

    2. Susan, I would love to get a copy of the article on Hope Cem. My grandparents are buried in Hope-James and Elsie [Guptail] Jockow, along with one son, George W.Jockow, and my grandfather's first wife, Sarah [Thompson] Jockow. Found out, thanks to Lorraine Hughes,[a Guptail genealogist] that the W was worn off their grave stone which explains why the name was Jocko in some research. Would like to find other children and relatives who may be buried there. Thanks for your advise and offer. Rita <Ritobrien@aol.com>

    3. Greetings All... Last year while I was the Office Administrator for Hope Cemetery, National Geographic came and did do an article on the Cemetery, and the Granite Industry. Employees of the Cemetery Department were VERY excited about the story. This morning, THANKS for the reminder of the story !! I called National Geographic at 800-777-2800 and ordered 5 copies (they are only about $6.00 each). Anyone who wants a transcription of the story, I'd be happy to provide it, as soon as my copies get here. Hope you all have a good day...Mine has been MADE PERFECT already !!!......................SueBdoo -- Susan Boyer Washington County, Vermont GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~vtwashin/index.htm -- ....There is no profit in curing the body.... ....if in the process we destroy the soul.... -- >From: vze28dnq@verizon.net >To: VTWASHIN-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [VTWASHIN] HOPE CEMETERY BARRE VT >Date: 1 Oct 2003 19:06:19 -0600 > >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1AC.2ACI/1821 > >Message Board Post: > >If anyone has relatives buried in the HOPE cemetery in Barre Vt- there is >an excellent article about the cemetery in this months National Geographic- >HOPE you all get to read it >very interesting- > > >============================== >To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, >go to: >http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > _________________________________________________________________ Instant message during games with MSN Messenger 6.0. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/1AC.2ACI/24.4 Message Board Post: I show the following in the Howe geneology: William Rice Tucker, son of Samuael and Alma, was born in Claremont, NH 10Nov1812 and married my ggg Aunt Theoda Parks Howe in March 1836 in Northfield. She died in '45 having had children Malverd Clarence [8yo] and Ione Sophia [3yo]. We have letters regarding the marriage of Cousin Mal to Maria, who I believe was another cousin, and they went to Wash. DC to work for the govt. I can dig out more details. These are my grandfather's cousins. After Theoda's death, William married Armena Simons in '47. BTW there are a number of deeds between the Tuckers and Howes in the files in Northfield. Perhaps real estate ventures. They are vested with Samuel and William together.
