Joan , Are you trying to prove that he was the son of John Douglas? If so there are other forms of proof that the DAR accepts. Have you tried census records, or wills or pension records or marriage licenses? Church records may also help you. I know as I am a trained DAR volunteer Genie and have had members that have used the first four as proof.
