That is pretty early for there to be a marriage recorded, and very early for a birth to be recorded. In the book "Vermont Newspaper Abstracts, 1783-1816," by Marsha Rising, there are abstracts from The Vermont Gazette. On October 17, 1794, there is a list of letters left at the post office in Manchester (Bennington Co.). One of the people is John Douglas, Tinmouth. Would this be the man you want?
