A better way to check your status on a list is to use Password Central at: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ This has several advantages over sending a "test" message: 1. It doesn't clutter up the list archives. 2. It is much more likely to tell you your actual list subscription status (many factors can affect whether a "test" message reaches the list). 3. It doesn't violate the list rule not to send administrative messages to the list. If you absolutely, positively, must have a list message to check something, then send a REAL, on topic message, please.
