Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Fri. Sept. 25, 1896. RUTLAND, VT. THE HOSPITAL . A Gift of a Free Bed Received at the Board Meeting Last Night. The directors of the city hospital held a meeting at Nichols street last evening, Henry F. Field in the chair. The board received a communication from Thomas J. Lyon containing a check for $250 for a free bed for 25 weeks in the hospital. This gift, as the communication stated, is in memory of Mr. Lyon's daughter, Miss Hattie Lyon, recently deceased. The board passed appropriate resolutions in recognition of the gift and appropriated money for 10 weeks for a young lady patient who will at once enter the hospital. Several local organizations are considering plans for furnishing rooms in the hospital. The expense, including all equipments, linen, etc., is about $100. The heating apparatus of the hospital is somewhat defective and the matter was referred to a committee consisting of George T. Chaffee and E. P. Gilson. Transcribed by, Joan H.
