Source,Rutland Vt. Daily Herald--May 6, 1965. CLYDE R. ACKLEY. Clyde Russell Ackley, 61, of North Clarendon, Vt., died Wednesday morning at the Rutland (Vt.) Hospital after a long illness. He was born June 21, 1903, in Bridgewater, Vt., son of Myron and Gertrude ( Capron) Ackley. He was a member of the Clarendon Congregational Church, the Otter Valley Grange of North Clarendon and the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, Lodge 1244. He was formerly employed by the Rutland Railroad Corp. as a clerk until his retirement in 1955. He was active in the Vermont Wing, Civil Air Patrol, until he retired as a lieutenant colonel in January 1965 and was for many years director of the cadet training for the state of Vermont. He was active in Civil Defense with District 3. He is survived by his wife, Guila (St.John) Ackley; three daughters, Mrs. George Graves and Mrs. John Ferguson, both of Rutland,Vt., and Mrs. Norman Davidson ( should be Davis), in Clarendon, Vt.; three sons, Myron Ackley of Hartford, Conn., Russell Ackley of North Clarendon, Vt., and William Ackley of Rutland, Vt.; two brothers, Edward Ackley of Matthews, Va., and Gordon Ackley of Hydeville, Vt.; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday 2 p.m. at the Aldous Funeral Home, Rutland, Vt. Interment will be in East Clarendon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
