    2. Jones Genealogy
    3. Hi Cathy, Thank you *VERY* much for this. And Bless You for even remembering I was in search of this info. It's been a long, long time - wondering what happened with this family. The mother (Nora Bisbee Goodwin) of the murdered child (Carrie Goodwin) was daughter and of Lydia L. SMITH Bisbee Jones Smith of Weston, Vermont, by her first husband, James Bisbee. Lydia is my 2nd great aunt through my Smith side (Weston VT clan) and later married my great-great grandfather, William Carlton Jones (Castleton Joneses). Those two families (Joneses of Castleton and Smiths of Weston) are very much 'intertwined.' It was a 2nd for both of them. William's first wife, Mary (Polly) Denison, had died young from childbirth complications. William's son, Frederick Carlton Jones of Castleton, married Nellie Jane Smith of Weston VT, niece of this Lydia (still following along???? lol). Lydia's THIRD husband was a John L. Smith of Castleton, whose 1st wife was a Mary (Roak/Roach, Rouke or McCormack!). I still don't know if this John Smith is somehow related to our other Smiths. The murdered child, Carrie, was Lydia's granddaughter. My great-great grandfather William Jones died in 1898 so he was around when all this took place about his step-daughter Nora and little Carrie.. And, while I'm not surprised this story wasn't talked about amongst family members, I am a little surprised that the story didn't at least get passed down through the generations. Thank you for all you sent. I'll try to find out even more about what took place after this tragedy occurred.
