Nichols was recently featured in a National Geographics Special on the search for the steamship US Republic, formerly the CSA Tennesse. It was sunk in the Caribean in 1865. Nichols was a passenger. He survived to go into business in the south (Texas?). His great grandaughter was interviewed in the special. Her name is Thyrsa Nichols _______. I didn't catch her last name. I am interested in obtaining copies of the fellows serving in the 14th Vermont, which Nichols commanded, as my great grandfather served under him. We have no photographs of that grandfather.
