Adolphus Germond, 50 years old, was instantly killed, and his son Joseph, the engineer, and Charles Hoyles, the assistant engineer, were very seriously injured. The damage to property is about $5,000. (Adolphus Jermain, age 37, and family, including 6-year-old Joseph, are listed in Mendon in 1880; Joseph German, age 26, is listed in Rutland in 1900.)
