Source, Rutland Vt.Daily Herald--Mon.Jan.1, 1940. Chippenhook is a section of Clarendon, Vt. GEORGE A. BALLARD. CHIPPENHOOK, Vt.--Dec.31--George A. Ballard , died at his home here early this (Sunday) morning after a few days' illness of pneumonia. He was born in Wells, Vt. in 1865.besides his wife Clarinda (Cook) Ballard he is survived by four sons, Henry A., Edgar P. of Chippenhook, Frank E. of Hubbardton, Vt., and Raymond T. of Rutland, Vt. ; three daughters, Mrs. Susan Herrick and Mrs. E. G. Potter of West Rutland, Vt. and Mrs. Louis Tiraboschi of Chippenhook.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mullin Funeral Home on Grove street, Rutland, Vt. Burial will be made in Chippenhook cemetery.
