    1. Re: [VTRUT] Sylvester Pond
    2. John [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) just wrote regarding Sylvester Pond & Ann: _____________________________ Hello, I have not posted in some time so thought I would try it again. I am looking for the marriage of Sylvester Pond to Ann about 1808. They were members of the Congregational Church at that time. They had children Nelson and Lucy Ann. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for your time John ____________________________ Hello John, I have been working on all the FREELOVE families since the early 1970s. This is what I have on the marriage of Sylvester POND to Anna FREELOVE: Anna FREELOVE (b. 1790-1800) "of Castleton" at the time of the marriage to Sylvester POND, 19 July 1807 Castleton, Rutland County, Vermont (he was a resident of Castleton at the time of the marriage also). The marriage record I have comes from Vermont Vital Records (on index cards) on microfilm (old film number: F1077 Pt. ?)... I read these long before I took decent notes of the sources. At least I wrote: Castleton Book 2, Marriages, Page 277. Hemenway's Vermont Historical Gazateer, p.513: listed Sylvester POND as tanner and shoemaker, located on the E. Hubbardton Road. Then I have a death record for Sylvester POND from "Vermont Vital Records (old film number F1077 Pt.?) on microfilm (see my note): Sylvester Pond died October 20, 1827 in Addison, Vermont (Same one?) Wife's name as Almira Pond. (were these his parents?) Before your message to the List, I did not have names for their children; I have one male and two females. The male b. 1800-1810 and the two females b. 1815-1820. The 1830 Federal Census Vermont, Rutland County, Castleton lists: Sylvester Pond 1 male 20-30 (b. 1800-1810) 1 male 40-40 (b. 1780-1790) 2 females 10-15 (b. 1815-1820) 1 famale 30-40 (b. 1790-1800) I would love to discuss this family with you. I believe Sylvester PONDs wife, Anna FREELOVE was daughter of Wilbur FREELOVE and his wife, Lucy A. GRAVES. Also, that she was sister to Barnabas FREELOVE of Castleton and Cynthia FREELOVE who married, 1819 Lemuel JOURDAN. (There would be one more sister but I haven't found who she might be ... yet.) (I have reasons for this conclusion but will not go into them on this post.) Wilbur FREELOVE was from the early FREELOVE family of Freetown, Mass. (he went to Northfield, Mass. after the Am. Rev. War) and then to West Rutland, Vermont. He also signed an affadavit for David FREELOVE of Freetown, Mass (Am. Rev. War Soldier) who went later to Shaftsbury, Vermont where his 1st wife, Sally Smith died; then he was in Ira (Clarendon), Rutland County, Vermont, with second wife, Lucy and had family there. At the time of the affadavit, Wilbur FREELOVE was "of West Rutland" and David FREELOVE was in Ira. He did not give a relationship, but I believe they were brothers. How are you related to the Sylvester POND, and his wife Ann? Linda R.F.
