Source, The Poultney Journal--Fri. Feb. 3, 1928. POULTNEY, VT. FORMER POULTNEYITE DIES AT CEDAR RAPIDS. Charles J. Fox, many years ago a resident of this town, and who will be remembered by some of the older settlers, died Friday last at his home in Cedar Rapids, Ia. He had been in ill health for two years. Mr. Fox came to Poultney with his parents when he was about four years of age, and here he received his education and learned the machinist's trade. In the 70's he went west, and in 1872 married Miss Grace Liddle, and soon after settling in Cedar Rapids, where for three years he was a machinist in the B.C.R.&N. railroad shops. In 1881 he became the superintendent of the Cedar Rapids water works, resigning after twenty years and going to Oskaloosa, Ia., where he assumed a like position. About four years ago he retired and returned to Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Crescent Lodge of Masons, Royal Arch Masons, and the First Presbyterian church. Besides his wife he leaves two children, Merritt L.Fox of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Martha M. Belting of Iowa City. One sister, Mrs. Heman Mitchell of Dalton, Mass., and three grandchildren also survive. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby
