A. Boissonnault. Here is some information on the churches associated with him: "Historical Rutland" by F. E. Davison says that Father J. A. Boissonnault was one of three priests sent to Rutland to organize Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in 1869. (Other sources call it Immaculate Heart of Mary.) They were supposed to administer a large area of Rutland county from there but that grew too expensive so they split the area up. "A history of the town of Fair Haven, Vermont" by Andrew N Adams, published in 1870 says, "St. Louis Catholic Church - Rev. J. A. Boissonnault is now pastor of the church, supplying also the church at Orwell one Sunday in each month." The 1904 book, "Successful Vermonters" says that as rector of Fair Haven, he was also in charge of Castleton, Orwell, Proctorsville and Shoreham. In 1874, Father J. A. Boissonnault was appointed pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church in St. Johnsbury, He was pastor there for 29 years. His biography from "Successful Vermonters" has been transcribed and posted at the Vermont-L Gateway site at http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/24SuccessfulVermontersBoissonnaultRevJA.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
