    2. Source, Rutland Vt.Daily Herald--Mon. Nov.27, 1961. CHIPPENHOOK FARMER DIES BY OWN HAND. CLARENDON, Vt.--The death of Harold Lanfear, 44, a farmer, whose body was found Saturday at 8:15 p.m. in an abandoned horse barn on the Lanfear property in the Chippenhook section of Clarendon, Vt., by his brother Carl, was ruled a suicide by Rutland County State's Atty. Arthur E. Crowley Jr., state police said Sunday. According to state police, a bullet discharged from a 33-30 Winchester model entered underneath Lanfear's chin and came out the back of his head. Regional medical examiner,Dr. William Powers. said death was instantaneous at approximately 5 p.m. The suicide was investigated by State's Atty. Crowley, Dr. Powers, Sheriff J. Fred Carbine and State Troopers, Michael Galvin and Richard Rosen. The body was removed to the Congdon Funeral Home in Wallingford, Vt. Funeral services for Harold Lanfear will be conducted at the West Rutland United Church by the pastor, Roger Albright, Tuesday at 2 p.m., with burial in East Clarendon cemetery. Friends may call at the Lanfear home at their convenience. Flowers will be received at the funeral home in Wallingford for delivery at the church. Mr. Lanfear was born in Clarendon, Vt., Aug. 24, 1917, the son of Asa and Minnie (Philips) Lanfear. he had been a life-long resident of Clarendon. Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Greene ; a daughter, Miss Deanna Lanfear, and a son, Harold Lanfear Jr., all of Chippenhook ; his mother; four sisters, Mrs. Tina Murray of Rutland, Vt., Mrs. Marian Woods of Wallingford, Vt.,Mrs. Rita Weaver of Ira, Vt. and Mrs. Myrtle Lansing of Witherbee, N.Y. ; and three brothers, Carl Lanfear of Clarendon Springs, Wilmer Lanfear of Rutland, Vt. and Earl Lanfear of Montana.
