Peter, I went for the first time last week to check the records at Rutland City. They were very friendly and helpful, they give me the following sheet of information. Because of the age and wear of the Vital Record books and the lack of personnel if you would like genealogical copies of the vital records you must : 1. Search the vital card file for the book & page information. Vault fee is $ 2.00 per house. (As I was there only 20 mins., there was no charge). 2. Fill out the vital record request form. 3. Pay the clerk for the required copies. 4. We will mail you your copies when we have a change to type and or copy them. This usually takes approximately 10 business days unless it is a large quantity of certificates then the mailing time will be longer. All vital records dated before 1903 are $ 7.00 per copy. These records cannot be photocopied, must be hand type by a clerk and therefore must be certified. Any records after 1904 may be purchased uncertified at a fee of $ 2.00 per copy. If you do not find a card in the card file for the name you are researching then we have no records on file.
