William C. Carbine of Meadow street left Saturday for a two weeks' vacation to be spent in Boston. Miss Rita Haley of Middle Granville, N.Y., is visiting Mrs. Martin McMahon of Cleveland Avenue. Miss Elizabeth Quigley of New York City is in this city for a weeks' visit with her brothers and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Metzger and family of Center street spent Sunday at their cottage at Lake Bomoseen. John J. Lalor and family have returned from a two months' outing at the Lalor camp at the foot of Killington. Thomas Noonan of Troy, N.Y., visited friends in this city Saturday. he is spending his vacation at lake Bomoseen. George Costello,chief clerk at the freight office of the Rutland railroad has returned from a week's vacation passed in Troy, N.Y. Frank Naylon of Newark, N.J., is at his home on Granger street for a few days. Mr. Naylon is doing clerical work for a telephone company. Miss Mildred and R. Stacey Blue of Bellevue avenue, who have been visiting relatives in Bennington for the past two weeks,returned Saturday. Miss Margaret Collins, stenographer in the office of the Champlain Silk mills, Whitehall, N.Y., passed Sunday at her home on School street. Misses Anna and May Dugan of Proctorsville have returned to their homes after being the guests at the home of P. F. McManus on West street. Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Davine of Columbian avenue have been called to Burlington by the death of Mrs. Davine's mother, which occurred Saturday. E. J. Lloud of South Main street was called to Grand Isle yesterday by the serious illness of his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bowen at the Vantine cottage. Mr. and Mrs. John Duffy and son, of New York and Mrs. T.F. Duffy of Glens Falls, N.Y., are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Duffy of Franklin street. Mr. and Mr, L.H. McIntire and family of Center street and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Ameden of Grove street have returned from an automobile trip to Woodstock and Windsor. Miss Mary McMahon, bookkeeper for the Combination Cash Store company and Charles McMahon of Cleveland avenue, returned Saturday from a two weeks' visit in Boston. Miss Mary Martin has returned to Wallingford after visiting in this city Saturday. Harry Levins of the firm of Pratt & Levins returned yesterday from a several days' business trip to New York city. Miss Irene Moroney of No. 10 Cramton avenue has returned from a vacation passed in Fair Haven as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. John Pollard. Joyce Spellman ,who has been at work in New York for a silk firm, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Spellman of Chestnut avenue. A shirt waist dance will be given in Odd Fellows hall Thursday evening by the L.O.O.F. club. The Stafford-Mellow orchestra will furnish music. Mrs. T. W. Moloney and family, who have been spending the summer months at their cottage on Point of Pines, Lake Bomoseen, returned Saturday to this city. Misses Loretta Kennedy and Anna Coville of Fort Edward, N.Y., are guests of Miss Eugenie Kennedy on Pine street. P. C. Morse of the Rochester Clothing company has returned from a vacation spent with friends and relatives in Boston and Worcester,Mass. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Lyman left Saturday afternoon for Toledo, O., were they will attend the national encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic. They will visit friends and relatives in Western cities before returning. The fire whistle, which was to have been completed by Tuesday ,will not be working order by that time,but will probably be completed by the first of next week. The tank for storing the air are not complete and the compressor has not arrived. Samuel Cheolis of State street fell from a street car Friday night and injured his wrist and left eye. He was going to his home and forgot to ask the conductor to sop, so stepped off the car backwards. He turned several somersaults in the road and was badly shaken up, besides receiving the cut over his eye and spraining his wrist. He was taken to the office of a physician, where his wounds were dressed. He is employed at the new shoe shining stand on Grove street
