    1. [VTRUT] Mary Roberts, in Poultney, Vermont in 1910

    3. I was wondering if anyone can help me unravel the complexity of an entry on 1910 USA federal census, In Poultney Vermont there is Mary Roberts (widow) born 1866 in Wales mother to Edith Roberts age 7 and Elvira Roberts age 5. With them is William R Owens born in Poultney, 1887 and the census says he is the brother to head of household (Mary) . There is also a Thomas Edwin Pickering in the household which has been transcribed as 'brother' but I believe should be boarder and I am wondering if this may also now be the case with William R Owens too. William R Owens parents were Robert Owens and Jane Thomas both born in Wales in 1854 making it highly unlikely that he was brother to Mary as that would make her parents only 12 at the time of her birth! I am trying to trace both the Pickerings and Owens lines as Thomas E Pickering is definitely from my family line as he was a cousin to my great grandmother and when she died in 1907 her husband then married a Elizabeth Emily Owens so I am trying to find out if these two 'boarders' were in fact related. If anyone can tell me how to confirm the maiden name of Mary Roberts, I would be most grateful. I will try to trace any sibling of William R Owens but if you can be of any assistance I would be most grateful. Many thanks Jackie Cheshire, England.
