Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Fri. May 22, 1891. SOON AFTER A FISHING TRIP. Bert Sawyer and Alva Pierce went to Shrewsbury on Wednesday last on a fishing trip, and after a day's hard work caught five pounds each of fine trout. At 7 o'clock in the evening they started to drive home, and they tell a story of queer experience. On reaching a point in the road where the body of a man was found a little over a year ago they saw, as they declare, what seemed to be a person standing directly in front of them on an elevated piece of ground. The figure immediately disappeared. They were thoroughly frightened and the horses were also alarmed. They now relate the story of their adventure, which is the most thrilling incident of a fishing trip reported thus far this season. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby
