There was no Robert Thomas listed in Pawlet (West Pawlet was not divided out). The only Robert Thomas listed in the county was in Poultney: Robert O. Thomas (Hydeville) r2, slate maker Hydeville refers to his PO address. Even though he lived in Poultney, he got his mail in Hydeville. "r2" refers to "road 2" on the map in the directory. "road 2" was in the NW corner of Poultney bordering on the Hydeville section of the town of Castleton. I don't know what the road was actually called. This was the only directory I had access to. It was on the HeritageQuest website that I use at my library. If you have access to HeritageQuest, maybe at your local library, you can view the map.
