Yesterday, before Justice Valiquette, he was fined $5 and costs, $6.72. He paid. December 20, 1880 Rutland Daily Herald and Globe Local Notes It was not William Brohan but Broughan who was fined on Friday for intoxication. On Saturday, before Justice Valiquette, he disclosed on John McCarty of Evelyn street, who owned up to three offenses of selling and was fined $30 and costs, $7.50, and he further confessed to keeping with intent to sell and for this was fined $10 and costs, $7.50. He appealed and gave bond in the sum of $175. December 21, 1880 Rutland Daily Herald and Globe Local Notes Mr. William Brohan, a quiet, industrious, sober young man requests us to state that he is the only person of that name in the town and that he has neither been arrested for intoxication nor fined by the police court. The name was printed by us just as it was furnished by the police justice. We are convinced that Mr. William Brohan, the young man in question, is not the man who was before the court, and regret that an injustice has been done to him. The person who was fined was some one of nearly similar name. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
