I have a friend Terri in MA whose maiden name was Checchini, she says possibley your family might have changed the i to e on arrival.Most of her relatives lived in the greater Boston area. She is related to many many Checchinis. I thank you for your help and will try to get to the Rutland court house this summer when I visit during August. There has been little written about the naturalization lists before this I was afraid I might be reaching for a straw hoping to find my answer so easily. Thanks for trying! Just a suggestion, you might want to call the court before coming. They don't have much room and it is still a working court so they sometimes will look them up and make a copy for you. If you post the names some of us might have copies of them or we can try to check City Hall.
