I was just extracting someone from the 1870 Wallingford Census. His occupation was "works at fork factory." Has anyone ever heard of a fork factory in Wallingford? Thank you. Kathy Campbell
I see that someone already responding on the history but if you are familiar with Wallingford, I just thought I'd mention that this company eventually morphed into what is now True Temper just off Route 7 down from Cumberland Farms. The orignal Batchellor & Sons shop was the Old Stone Shop which is right on Main Street/Route 7 and now houses a small art gallery/shop. My husband's family worked there during and prior to WWII.
