This post was very fun for me to come across, as he once told me of this very adventure. He told me that his Grandmother went to fetch him, and took him back home by train. He was not wearing any shoes at the time, and told me how his grandmother hid his bare feet from view by using her skirt; barefoot boys were not allowed to ride the train. The story he told me wasn't one of walking to Brandon, however; undetected, the two boys had hitched a ride on the train from Rutland to Brandon.
