I looked in the Finel file folder today while at PHS doing some research Sarah Green was mentioned, there seems to be quite a bit of information in this file . Annie - I saw your post below and it caught my eye that you are with Poultney Historical Society. What resources might they have for me to find out information on the following? My ggrandmother, Eleanor "Ella" D. Dickerson/Dickenson/Dickinson is listed in the 1880 Census as a single,16 year old, listed occupation-teacher, living with her sister and brother-in-law, Charles S./Charlotte Lois (actually Louis). I want to find out about her between then 1880 and 1894 when she remarries in Chicago. I can follow her after 1894 Chicago, although CS/Charlotte Louis are a mystery. In the mystery years, Eleanor/Ella married a Benjamin B. Fuller (a very small chance it could be another unknown name), who died, and she moved to Chicago (in that order?). Were there children from that marriage (none appear in 1894 until the remarriage a year or so later)? Did she marry Ben in Vermont (her family (parents/siblings) lived in Rutland, Castleton, Middletown Springs), he died, and then she moved to Chicago? Did she go to Chicago because he died and she wanted a fresh start? Did she move to Chicago first, marry Ben, stayed, and then remarried in 1894? Why did she come to Chicago if she was single? How did she come to Chicago from Vermont? What resources might be available to find out some of these mysteries or am I wishful thinking? Do I simply write and ask for the information? Susan Husk So.
