Source, Rutland Vt.Daily Herald--Sat. may 5, 1934. HIRAM ALEXANDER DIES AT CLARENDON, VT. Civil War Vet, 97, Had Been a Resident of Rutland County All of His Life. Hiram Alexander, 97, one of Rutland county's oldest residents. died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Emery of Clarendon, Vt. Mr. Alexander was born in Benson, Vt., September 24, 1837. He was a veteran of the Civil War having served in Company E, 4 th Vermont regiment. He was a resident of Rutland county all of his life. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Emery, Mr. Alexander is survived by two sons, Daniel and Frank Alexander of this city, (Rutland, Vt.) several grandchildren, nephews and nieces. The body was moved to the Stearns Funeral home on West street, Rutland, Vt. The funeral services will be held at his late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
