MIDDLETOWN SPRINGS Farmers are beginning to complain of too much rain. Lena, only daughter of J. P. Maranville, is very ill of brain trouble and but faint hopes of her recovery are entertained. Mrs. Harley Spaulding is quite sick; her daughter Florence has come from Lake George to attend her. The remains of Mrs. Seamons of Clarendon were brought here Wednesday and buried in the old cemetery by the side of her husband. She was a former resident of this place and mother of E. P. Seamons of this town, her age was 82 years. Mrs. Frank Copeland has returned from Kansas. PITTSFORD The new tax book contains 676 names. Henry Kingman has sold his coach to T. A. Richardson of Brandon for $300. Junia Sargent, one of the selectmen of Pittsford, celebrated his 78th birthday recently. The barn of John N. Goodenough was struck by lightning last Saturday, considerable damage being done. FAIR HAVEN Mr. Samuel Wood died at his residence on South Main street Friday morning. He had been in poor health nearly two years and for the past ten days had sunk rapidly. Mr. Wood was one of Fair Haven's oldest citizens. He was a mason and a prominent republican. In his younger days he took an active part in politics and represented the town in the legislature. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the house. Revs. E. H. Randall of Poultney and E. P. Lee of West Rutland will officiate. The masons will attend in a body and Morning Star lodge of Poultney, of which he was a member, will have charge. BRANDON Mr. A. C. Halsey of the Putnam House, Bennington and Miss Alice Collins, daughter of Mr. L. Collins were married last Wednesday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Eugene Conant on Conant square. Rev. J. W. Tilley of St. Thomas' church performed the ceremony. The wedding was a very pleasant affair.
