Job, Sr. died inestate, which is why there are so many letters. Joel Simonds is the attorney. Joel was writing on the behave of the estate of Job Prince, Jr. Job PRINCE, Sr. died in 1827 in Glens Falls, Saratoga County and is buried in Reynolds Corners cemetery in Moreau, Saratoga County. His wife, Rhoda, had widow's rights until she died in 1831. At that time, the property was divided equally among Job and Rhoda's ten children and then transferred to John Sprott. The family lore is Job, Jr. owned a mill in Vermont, married and had at least one child. I'd like to prove this, but have been unsuccessful so far. The property was in Moreau, Saratoga Co., NY. I find that Job Prince was living in Moreau in the 1820 census. Perhaps if you contact the Saratoga Co. historian you can find out more about Job Prince. Author: fredandjp Surnames: PRINCE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.rutland/5002.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: According to the letter in the Surrogate box, he was living in Pawlett, VT. The letter is from an attorney, representing Job's estate. If he had enough of an estate to require an attorney, that tells me he had heirs, which are most likely descendants and property and/or money. Here is the gist of the letter from the surrogate box: 21 April 1831 Joel Simonds of Pawlett, Rutland County VT to John Sprott; equal undivided one-tenth part of lot in Moreau "being the same farm that Job Prince deceased was lawfully seized of at the time of his decease."...to convey all the interest that belonged to Job Prince Jr. deceased as heir of Job Prince aforesaid deceased. He is definitely not in Saratoga County. His parents and several siblings are in Saratoga County, but not this Job, who happens to be named after his father. He isn't in the 1825 NYS census either, so I'm guessing Job, Jr moved before then. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! 3. Hi, Ann, I have corresponded with Denise before, probably on Gilman. I don't think she would have any Doolittle items I don't have. I'd love to find some school records for Augustus Willard Gilman prior to his mother's marriage to John Gilman. I sort of think that his birth name may have been Willard; I'm sure he isn't a child of John Gilman. But I can't find a Willard that would fit either! I have the big Willard genealogy.
