So, google the county clerks of the county. If they have the records there, hire a volunteer to look through those books. The records may be combined with land deeds, marriages, and probate records. You can also go through the Latter Day Saints Churches in your area and order and view those books on microfish. That takes a week or so after ordering to view them. If you have time, that is the most cost effective way to do it (about $5.00 per reel). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. F. Burke Ceremony is Performed on Saturday Noon at St. Mary's The marriage of Miss Mary Catherine Barnett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Daniel B. Barnett of this village, to James Francis Burke of Rutland, Vt. was solemnized at St. Mary's Church Saturday noon by Rev. Father Bernard Marron before a large congregation. Only the simple marriage was performed followed by the benediction, no nuptial mass being said. The bridal party entered the church from the rear of the nave. The bride was preceded by four bridesmaids, her matron of honor and four ushers. The bridesmaids were Miss Olivette Burke, sister of the groom, and Miss Marion Peck of this village who wore orchid crepe romaine and Miss Dorothy Dunlap of Pittsburg, Penn., and Miss Mary Everett of Potsdam, who wore jade crepe romaine. The matron of honor was Mrs. A. Marshall Lowman of Elmira, N. Y., who wore yellow crepe romaine. Bridesmaids and matron of honor all wore hats of duvetyn, the color of their gowns, and carried bouquets of Ophelia roses. The bride entered on the arm of her father. She wore the wedding gown worn by her mother, of white satin duchess, with train of silver cloth, and trimmed with pearls. She wore of veil of tulle and carried a prayer book, also carried by her mother at the latter's marriage. The ushers were Dr. Theodore S. Barnett of New York, A. Marshall Lowman of Elmira, Frank N. Hinchey of West Rutland, Vt., and Frederick L. Burke of Potsdam, brother of the groom. The groom with his groomsman James Linnehan of Danby, Vt., entered from the chapel and met the bridal party before the sanctuary. The processional was "Pomp and Circumstances". Frank M. Cram was at the organ. During the Benediction a quartet, Mrs. W. J. Baldwin, Mrs. Frederick L. Burke, J. W. Maxey, and D. W. Everett, sang portions of the service. The recessional was Lohengims Wedding March. The church was decorated with palms, ferns and white chrysanthemums, mostly banked in front of the sanctuary. Innumerable candles were on the large marble altars. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was given at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Barnett of Chestnut street at which about eighty were present. Mr. and Mrs. Burke left Saturday afternoon for Cape Cod where they will spend a few weeks. They will make their home in Danby, Vt. The bride is well-known in Potsdam and Northern New York social circles. She is a graduate of the Normal High School and Wellesley College. For a year, she was instructor in English at Wellesley following graduation. She is a member of the T. Z. R. sorority. Mr. Burke is the son of Mrs. Theresa Burke of West Rutland, Vt. He is a graduate of the University of Vermont, where he captained the football team for two years. He served as major in the 47th Infantry in the World War. He is a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. At the present time, he is president of the Vermont Lime Products Company. The bride has been the guest of honor at several pre-nuptial events. Friday noon Mrs. W. W. G. Peck entertained at luncheon for her and her bridesmaids at her home in Elm street. Friday afternoon Mrs. R. H. Byrns gave a tea for the bridal party and others at her home in Main Street. Friday evening Mrs. C. A. Barnett gave a dinner dance for her at the Potsdam Country Club, covers being laid for twelve.
