Joan , Are you trying to prove that he was the son of John Douglas? If so there are other forms of proof that the DAR accepts. Have you tried census records, or wills or pension records or marriage licenses? Church records may also help you. I know as I am a trained DAR volunteer Genie and have had members that have used the first four as proof. Another child age 6 Kath is with them so they married at least around 1854. Just a guess but they either knew each other when they left Ireland or it was a "whorl wind" romance if he got here in 1852. On the 1900 census they are indexed as Helay, Anthony and Magie. Unable to locate in 1910. On the 1920 census Anthony is listed as Edward living with his son Thomas, he is widowed. The only problem is he is 81 and immigrated in 1845 so ????.
