I realize that you already have, but I couldn't find it on the first page and I got dizzy, lol. I'm on the Douglas DNA list, maybe someone there has info on your John Douglas? Maybe just the page number on the 1879 Douglas book? that would probably work too. julie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. And we have not extracted as far as 1846. Have you checked the Poultney cemetery book by Margaret Jenks to see if your people are in there? You can check at Middlesex, VT for the state archives. Check with the churches in the towns and see if they may have old Baptismal records. Much appreciated. I have access to Charles Henry James Douglas Book on the Douglas line. I use it as reference as I do not know if DAR will accept. Lebanon, Wayne Co. Pa. is my hometown. I have been in contact with the Wayne Co. HS. They do not find a will for John or Sybil. I have 1816 deed where he bought land in Wayne Co. Pa., but no wife or children are mentioned. Was hoping for verification through Rutland, VT of Robbins Douglas 1801 son of John Douglas. When do state vital records began in Vermont for B/M/D's? 3. Hi, Everyone, I am looking for any info on Hope Hinds She was born about 1790 in or around Hubbardton, Rutland co. VT. She is found in the 1850 census of Hubbardton. She is married to a Henry Richardson and they are living with a Russell W. Farr adn his wife Roxana D. Farr. Sometime between 1850 and 1860 her husband Henry has died as she is still living in the 1860 census as a widow at 70 years old. She is still living with Russell and Roxana Farr. Were they related to her or to Henry? Who were her parents. I am trying to find a connection to my ancestors as she is thought to be married to Abraham Hinds/Hines and the mother of at least two sons, Robert and Sidney. And since she lived at least between 1860 and 1870 as she is not found after 1860. That there maybe an obit for her that would give some info. Thank you Vivian

That is pretty early for there to be a marriage recorded, and very early for a birth to be recorded. In the book "Vermont Newspaper Abstracts, 1783-1816," by Marsha Rising, there are abstracts from The Vermont Gazette. On October 17, 1794, there is a list of letters left at the post office in Manchester (Bennington Co.). One of the people is John Douglas, Tinmouth. Would this be the man you want? If she is one and the same, then I have a bible that was given to them not at the time of their wedding but sometime in the 1880s; the marriage page, however, is filled out for James Burke of Ireland and Margaret McKeough of Ireland, married 19 Aug 1849 in Castleton. Information was added to the bible through about 1911, and the births of their eight children are recorded, as well as some deaths. Curiously, the putative 1909 death of Margaret was not recorded. The article you transcribed describes the 1852 wedding of Margaret's sister, Ellen - again, if Margaret is one and the same, then the sister would have been Ellen McKeough of Ireland. And I may have 4th cousins named Kinsella! Thanks, Kristian Omland Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
