I really don't think this is him 12 people in household. I should have 4 girls under the age of ten and 2 boys under age of ten. 2) I found a John Douglas in Addison, Cornwall VT, but he doesn't fit either. I really can't find him on the 1800/1810 VT census, but the master book on the Douglas line says that his kids were born there. And the children's census date 1850---- they never wavier on where they born--Vermont. Go figure! 3) I am in the process of contacting the Town Clerk of Pawlet. If hJoh and family are there, How do I rent LDS film of church records? I do not have a local Family Center near by. I have been branching out for the will/obit for John Douglas's dad Asa Douglas (1739-1812). His obit, which might mention children, is in the Columbian Centinel, Boston Mass. dated April 25, 1812. Might anyone know how I might access this? I have looked on Ancestry.com and google. I don't see anything digitized. You said you thought the McKeoughs came from Ballina, Tipperary. Any idea when they came over? Also, from Sara Noonan's work with the Rutland County Naturalization Records, I found a James Burke, born 1824 in Cork. That would have made him 25 at the time of an 1849 wedding -- seems like a likely match. Do you know anything else about the Burkes? According to this website: http://www.vermontrealestatesales.net/help/resources/townclerks/index.html This is the contact info for the Town Clerk of Pawlet - maybe you can email them and see what info they have? My Gilbert Douglas married Elizabeth Hamilty in 1807 in Tinmouth, VT - the clerk emailed me back with that info, but since I wasn't sure if the DAR would accept it, I rented the LDS film that should have had it on there, and it did (it was in the church records, and mixed in with tons of other church info). That's how I did that connection. Just a suggestion. Pawlet: Joanne G. Pa. (Clarissa, Nancy, Julia Ann). DAR does not accept: LDS, Family books, county histories, etc. I am looking for newspaper, vital statistics, wills, deeds. Census data for me is not proving anything as before 1850 only had head of household listed. Possibly Nancy douglas b1799 d1814 might have documentation of siblings /parents in Ruland?? I have posted to the Douglas DNA site; my John Douglas/Sybill Merill seem to be an anomily. Joan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
