Author: decker4160 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.rutland/5060/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm wondering if there's been a study, presentation at the local historical society, publication regarding naming patterns back in the 1830s that might give me a clue as to the parents of my great-great-grandfather, Amasa F. Clark. Amasa and Roxalana (Carpenter) Clark had 13 children. Two of the children's names came from the Newton side. All were born in Rutland. I'd appreciate any clues, leads that someone(s) could provide. fjm Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [VTRUT] Betsey Cole and Jacob Reynolds
    2. Joann H. Nichols
    3. Betsey Cole was born ca 1780 (where?), married 13 Nov. 1798 (where?), Jacob Reynolds. Betsey died 24 March 1813, age 33, in Ira, Rutland Co., VT and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland. Jacob Reynolds was born ca 1777 in Spencertown, Columbia, NY, and died 15 Jan. 1864, age 88 in Woonsocket, RI. He is also buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, VT. After Betsey's death he married Amy Alger 5 Dec. 1819 in Strafford, Orange Co., VT; she died 11 Aug. 1853. Jacob Reynolds' parents were Jonathan and Rebeckah (---) Reynolds. Jacob and Betsey (Cole) Reynolds had seven children: Olive, James Martin, Jacob, Betsey, Rebecca J., Jonathan 2nd, and Lydia. Have some info on who these children married. Does anyone recognize this family and who the parents of Betsey Cole might be? I am wondering if she could be a sister to my mysterious Lydia Cole who married Increase Rudd in 1801 in Middletown, Rutland Co., VT. Ira and Middletown aren't that far apart. Thanks for any help you can give me! Joann Nichols

LDS has some of them scanned, you might try renting a film. I rented one for Tinmouth, VT (My guys were from CT too) and it was a book full of church entries, in between the electing and town stuff, it mentioned births, marriages, death, and Mrs. so-and-so attending, or leaving this church for another. That might be an avenue. Julie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Nana8698 Surnames: Flower, Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.counties.rutland/5058/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I am looking for information on Joseph Rogers, his wife was Susanna Flower Rogers. They are on the 1790 census in Poultney VT and I cannot locate them after that time. They have died, I don't really know. They came from CT prior to their move to Poultney. They had a son Joseph Jr. who may or may not have been living at the time and stayed in the area, as well as several daughters. Joseph and Susanna were married in Litchfield, CT in 1759. Joseph was a soldier in the Revolution. Their daughter Sarah m. Samuel Kellogg and their daughter Ruth m. Phineas Pierce as his second wife. Both sisters and their husbands moved to Bradford Co PA around 1800-1803. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might be able to write for possible research assistance in the Poultney area? I thought maybe deeds or something would give me a clue. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Sorry Pat: I too found no picture as I found on your other posts. However what I found is that if I changed the view from "Thread view" to "Flat View" (what ever this does or means) I found a blank window with a little red x in another little box in it and when I clicked on the red x I got an error message something to do with security and suggestions on the nip ups one can try to take to possibly over come this problem. More than I am willing to fight to look at a picture I probably wouldn't recognize anyway .
