    3. DISCUSSES IRISH QUESTION Rev. Fr. Griffin of Wallingford Addressed F. of I. F. About 300 were present at the open meeting held last evening in the G. A. R. hall under the auspices of the Matthew Lyon branch, Friends of Irish Freedom. Following the transaction of routine business, Hugh G. Kingsley, president of the society, introduced Rev. Arthur C. Griffin, pastor of St. Patrick's church in Wallingford as the speaker of the evening. Fr. Griffin delivered an eloquent address on the Irish question. He cited several reasons why he believed Ireland was entitled to her freedom and he told of the treatment that the people of Ireland received while under the domination of the English government. He showed the progress of the Irish in America, since immigrating to this country and declared all Irish were lovers of the stars and stripes. He said that the Irish question would never be settled until England gave Ireland her freedom. David O'Connor of Dublin, who has been in Rutland for the past month organizing branches of the society in different parts of the state, was also present and gave an interesting talk on conditions in Ireland as he had observed them during his 20 years as a member of the Sinn Fein movement. St. Albans, Dec. 21 Deputy Collector of Customs, L. D. Seward of Swanton brought to the Franklin county jail this afternoon Arthur Cota of that place, who has held up last night about 7 o'clock by Officer Seward and found to have 28 one quart bottles of Canadian whiskey in his possession. The team which Cota was driving was seized. The man was driving into Swanton from the Highgate Road. _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? 2. C &P Railroad = Clarendon and Pittsford Railroad, the old Vermont Marble Co. Line used to haul the company's product around the various quarries and mills in the marble region. The name is currently used by some of the Vermont Railway engines and cars. I assume they bought out the company years ago and for whatever reason still use the name. pjp
