    1. HAZELTONs in Fairhaven, etc.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HAZELTON, HILL, CONGDON, FISH, BARNS / BARNES Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0AC.2ACI/2602 Message Board Post: Hello Everyone, We just recently discovered a HAZELTON connection. We have a Maud HILL (b. 1879/1880 NY---likely 1880 as she does not appear on the 1880 census with her parents.) who married an Unknown HAZELTON. They had a daughter Thelma HAZELTON (b. abt 1914/1915 VT according to census records). In the 1920 Census both Maud and Thelma HAZELTON are living in Fair Haven /Fairhaven, with Maud's parents Ezra R. & Anna/Annie (CONGDON) HILL. Ezra HILL is a Carriage Maker there. I found in an old Rutland Co. posting elsewhere, the following: Rutland Herald--Monday, Oct. 18, 1926 Miss Thelma Hazelton, a student at Middlebury college, spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Maud Hazelton of Sycamore Inn. Does anyone know what the Sycamore Inn is? Is it a hotel? Was Middlebury college ever used as a girls school? Thelma would have been quite young...only 12 or 13 from what we know from census records. By 1930 census we find Maud (HILL) HAZELTON in Burlington. (1930 - Maud was a maid (age 49) in Burlington, Chittenden Co., VT). We did not find Thelma HAZELTON so assume perhaps by 1930 she was married....thus meaning she married between Oct. 1926 and the time of the census in 1930. Who did she marry? Wasn't she too young?? Does anyone have access to Middlebury records/yearbooks? Would be interested to know if Thelma HAZELTON "graduated" and, if so, when. We have information going back, especially on Anna/Annie (CONGDON) HILL's line. Would like to find others working on these HAZELTONS! We would very much like info coming down and to fill in blanks! Thank you for your time! Unette LEMKE unette@aol.com unette@ticon.net

    1. Michael Sullivan, Healdville, Vt.
    2. Patty Pickett
    3. One of my family lines includes a Sullivan. Margaret Sullivan, daughter of Thomas Sullivan, married Michael Lucas and had 10 children. They came to Vermont in the late 1860's and settled first in Wallingford and then East Wallingford. For that reason I started collecting Sullivan names in the East Wallingford, Healdville, Mount Holly area and this Michael Sullivan is one of the names I collected. I also have his obituary, as Joan has typed out already. This is the rest of what I have: Michael Sullivan was born in March 1828 in Kilkenny, married Ann Mangan, also born in Ireland, not known if married here or there. Ann Mangan Sullivan died 2-22-1889 as recorded in book 5 page 60 of Mount Holly town records. Her father's name is given as Timothy. They came over from Ireland in about 1860. Children included: Timothy born 7-23-1878, book 4 page 66 Mt Holly records Katherine born 10-1880 in Vt.- is shown in the 1900 Mt. Holly census as 19 years old living with her father Kate born 10-25-1884 recordedi n book 4, page 68 in Mt. Holly. I don't know anything about John, where or when born, etc. I tend to believe that Katherine and Kate are the same person. Perhaps this data will be useful to someone. >From: JOMARIE37@webtv.net >Reply-To: VTRUTLAN-L@rootsweb.com >To: VTRUTLAN-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [VTRUTLAN] Michael Sullivan, Healdville, Vt. >Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2004 15:17:37 -0400 > >Source, Rutland Vt. Surnames: Lane Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/0AC.2ACI/551.919.1 Message Board Post: Bonnie, Many Irish emigrants went to the US thru Canada and upper Vermont and settled in some of the first areas where they could find employment. Patrick's church and civil records as well as those of his children might include where specifically he originated in Ireland. If you can find Patrick's parents names, his father may be included in Griffiths Valuation which may help narrow your search in Ireland. The Lane surname was found in Griffiths Valuation, which was a tax list of those who rented or owned property in Ireland between 1848 and 1864 in the following locations: Antrim 1 Armagh 1 Belfast City 2 Cavan 1 Clare 8 Cork 266 Cork City 44 Derry 24 Down 1 Dublin 7 Dublin City 3 Fermanagh 5 Galway 33 Kerry 42 Kildare 4 Kilkenny 6 Laois 11 Limerick 43 Limerick City 8 Longford 7 Louth 5 Mayo 1 Meath 5 Monaghan 2 Offaly 2 Roscommon 16 Sligo 1 Tipperary 19 Tyrone 1 Waterford 22 Wexford 13 Wicklow 3 Eilis O'Hara

He claimed that he had " good people " who could help him, but he did not want them to know of his plight.
