Hi, Mike, I can click on your messages and get to both the web page from your first message and the message board post from your second message.. And Sara can get to the page and index, even though we live in different states. Sorry you are having trouble. Try http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/mumford/sara.html It should take you directly to the index. But it is a huge amount of material and if you have dial-up it might take a long time for the page to load. Is anyone else having trouble? Cathy Habes ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael J. Reason that my Robert Thomas is'nt listed is because he'd only been in the US for about a year, so he wouldnt have been listed in 1881-82. As you say you've only access to this Directory, so thank you for looking this up. Maybe someone has the 1883-84 Directory, and could be listed in that. Thank you. There was no Robert Thomas listed in Pawlet (West Pawlet was not divided out). The only Robert Thomas listed in the county was in Poultney: Robert O. Thomas (Hydeville) r2, slate maker Hydeville refers to his PO address. Even though he lived in Poultney, he got his mail in Hydeville. "r2" refers to "road 2" on the map in the directory. "road 2" was in the NW corner of Poultney bordering on the Hydeville section of the town of Castleton. I don't know what the road was actually called. This was the only directory I had access to. It was on the HeritageQuest website that I use at my library. If you have access to HeritageQuest, maybe at your local library, you can view the map. I don't know if this is your Robert Thomas or not. Good hunting! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was killed on Middle Granville station when he lost his footing and was killed between two cars. Report in POULTNEY JOURNAL- 9th May, 1884. Its thought that he worked in West Pawlet, could he be living in this area also? Is there a directory for this area that lists where people lived? Would like to find where he lived and maybe worked, any info appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Rosemary, Would you be able to check to see if my great-grandfather Edward Breen's naturalization is recorded there? When I saw all the recent posts about the Rutland Court resource, I thought I might come up and look there, too. I looked at the National Archives Center in Waltham, Massachusetts a number of years ago and there was no record of his naturalization although on a few census records it says he was naturalized. Finding a record of his naturalization would solve my "brick wall". I have been searching for his townland in Ireland for many years. He lived in West Rutland from circa 1864 to around 1893. Thanks for any help you can give me. There were none that I could find in Mass, that made any connection to that family. They were in upper New Jersey from the time of immigration in the 1892-1918 time frame, and are still there. I have seen some of them that appear to have a connection that went to Connecticut. Most interesting was another Noonan gal marrying another Cecchini in the New Haven area - neither of relation. This Cecchini / Cecchine family was from Sessa Arunca, Caserta, Italy. If she thinks there's a connection, I'll be happy to share with her. There was also a Cecchini family that quarried marble in Rutland for a short time before moving to the same area in New Jersey. I am excited and jealous for you to be able to get to Rutlands courthouse. I'm 1300 miles away. Best digs to you! Sara Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Just a suggestion, you might want to call the court before coming. They don't have much room and it is still a working court so they sometimes will look them up and make a copy for you. If you post the names some of us might have copies of them or we can try to check City Hall. This family is somewhat elusive! Though buried in Poultney [Peter, Sarah A, Russel H, William A, Frank J, Nellie E LANDRY; Elbert W & Joel S MASON] I found no reference in the town reports or census that they actually lived there. They did appear to move around a lot. Elbert Whiting MASON and Nellie Edyth [Edith] LANDRY were married 02/09/1899 in Rutland. The info is from the census, the social security death index, newspaper archives, some cemetery and other vital records from the area and a coroner report from OH. Though the information was copied from these sources, I can't be certain they are the people you are looking for. I used the names, dates and places of birth and tried to follow them through. If you will write to me via personal email, I'll send you what I found for each of the children. -----Original Message----- Subject: [VTRUT] Elbert Whiting Mason and Nellie Edyth Landry Author: mbsoul331 Surnames: Mason I am looking for the children and grandchildren of the above mentioned people.
