I have some new information about my great-grandfather. It turns out that he was born in Co Armagh, Ireland in 1859. His father was called John Dunn and he was a farmer. Hopefully I should be able to trace the farm now that I know where to focus my work. Thanks to everyone for helping me with the Rutland connection and I amd still keen to find out more about John's time there. I have requested a copy of his birth certificate from the Town Hall so that I can compare the details with the baptism certificate I already have. Ifthere is anything I can help you guys with at this end please let me know. The census for Ireland 1911 is now available free of charge online. Just go to the Republic of Ireland National Archive. 1. [VTRUT] 1885--Poultney News Items
    2. Source, The Poultney Journal--Fri. Feb. 20, 1925. Page 1. THINGS THAT HAPPENED FORTY YEARS AGO. Taken from Journal of Feb. 20, 1885. Several strangers were "laid over" in Poultney during the recent storm. Quickly spread the news Wednesday morning when a few learned that a mail train had arrived from Troy. We cannot give any news of the fore part of the week outside of the village, as no mails were received. When the train arrived here on Wednesday it attracted a good deal of attention. People ran from all directions yet no one seemed to be "afraid of the cars." The wind-storm on Monday took several squares of slate from the barn of John L. Ward, scattering the slate in all directions and sending one, crashing through blind and window, into the house, passing close to Mrs. Ward's head, but fortunately doing no further injury. Report from Stamford, Bennington county, says that a horse and cutter and two men were caught up and carried over a fence and deposited in a huge snow bank, during the storm of last Monday. Mrs. F. Burpee has rented rooms to R.G. M. Johnson. Mrs. R. W. Goodrich and Miss Hattie Monroe spent Sunday in Salem with Mrs. B. G. Rice. Miss Nettie Forbes has gone to Chester, N.Y., to spend a short time with friends. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby Genealogy not just a hobby, but a labor of love.

Florence 'Flora' S. Lethbridge-Berg Born: 15 Aug 1890 - Pittsford, VT Died: 28 Apr 1980 - Troy, NY Spouse: Wilfred J. Berg (1887 to 1963) One known relative: Nathan Lethbridge According to Florence's obituary (Apr 1980), the only surviving relation besides her kids was a brother named Nathan who resided in Glens Falls, Warren County, New York. According to FamilySearch.org there is a Nathan Lethbridge who was born 16 Jul 1896 and died 03 Feb 1988. Social Security number was issued in VT, and his death residency was all through Rutland County, Vermont. Besides what I know about Florence, I'm moving to obtain her vital records, I think her father was John Lethbridge born abt 1852 and Josephine born about 1855. Siblings appear to be Elmyra born abt 1888, Edwin born abt 1896 and Charlotte born abt 1898 according to Census records for 1900 Chitten, Rutland, Vermont. All because Florence's there with a sibling named Nathan. I would appreciate any thing anyone has to offer and if I can help you, that's excellent as well. Cheers!! 1. Re: [VTRUT] FRENCH Family Photograph
    2. K Eaton
    3. Your 'rescued' photograph sounds quite interesting. Our 'FRENCH' family goes back to Deerfield MA in late1600;s to 1700's. Our direct line is one of Marguerite Marthe' FRENCH - father Thomas FRENCH, mother, Marguerite (Mary) CATLIN - who was taken captive to Canada by the French and Indians in 1704. She, Marguerite Marthe' eventually married a French Canadian, Jacques ROY. I haven't traced much of the FRENCH family in an expansive way. They were pretty large families in those days. Our original line on this continent goes to John FRENCH and Susan REDDESDALE in Ipswich, MA - deaths about 1650's. There is a website for Deerfield Descendants. www.historic-*deerfield*.org/*deerfield*-*descendants* They also have a members' email group. If you would like, I will post your photo information on that site. The photograph is dated "circa 1860" with Carrie appearing to be about 5 years old at the time the photograph was taken. The photograph includes the civil war era tax stamp so I'm assuming that it was from the mid-1860's. I am hoping to locate someone from this FRENCH Family so that the photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family.
